There was a mild drama at Oredo council secretariat in Edo state at the weekend when a middle aged woman stormed the marriage registry and disrupted the administration of marital vow between her husband and his mistress.
Our correspondent gathered that her husband who was simply identified as Valentine had invited few friends and relatives to the registry to legalise his relationship with the said lover.
The air of euphoria reportedly turned sour when his wife who learned of the development stormed the venue in company of other women and disrupted the exercise.
The man on sighting his wife reportedly took to his heels and abandoned his would-be pride.
An eyewitness at the council secretariat disclosed that his wife later told the bewildered officiating registrar that she had been married to Valentine for 17 years, adding that the marriage was blessed with four kids.
The woman was said to have further explained how Valentine had abandoned his responsibilities as husband since he began his escapade with the mistress; adding that several attempts to save her marriage had not yielded any positive results.
“I have to do this because am convinced my husband must have been bewitched by the lady because since the rumour began making round of his involvement with her, he has stopped taking care of his four children,” the witness quoted the embattled woman as saying.
It was further learnt that she threatened to take legal action against the registry if they go ahead to join her husband and his mistress on a later date insisting that she remains the legal wife.
