Wike inaugurates Law Revision C’ttee

Rivers state Governor, Nyesom Ezenwo Wike, has inaugurated the State Law Revision Committee. Speaking during the inauguration of the committee at the Government House, Port Harcourt, on Tuesday, the governor said the Committee “is to collate and revise all laws in force in the state.” According to him, the assignment should be completed within six months from the date of the execution of the instrument. Th e governor said the last time that the laws of the state were revised was in 2003 under the chairmanship of Late Justice Fibresima. “Th is is a very important committee that is relevant to the strengthening of the justice system of the state. In terms of laws that should be amended, the committee should liaise with the House of Assembly,” he said. Responding, Chairman of the Committee, Justice TK Osu, assured the governor that the committee would deliver on the assignment as scheduled. In another development, Wike swore in the Caretaker Committee Chairman of Tai local government area, Mr. Sylvester Mgba. He charged the new Caretaker Committee Chairman to prioritise the payment of salaries and support for security agencies.
