Rivers state Governor, Nyesom Ezenwo Wike has stated that the state will continue to promote religious tolerance for peaceful coexistence, as that is the only guarantee for growth and development in the state.
Speaking during a courtesy visit by the leadership of Eckankar Nigeria at the Government House, Port Harcourt yesterday, governor Wike said every Nigerian was constitutionally empowered to practice the religion of his/her choice.
He said under his watch, nobody will discriminate against any religion as people have different ways to reach God.
He said: “Whichever way you think you can reach God, do so. Religion is an individual thing.
“Nobody would be discriminated against on the basis of his religion in Rivers state.”
The governor reiterated that he would never let the people of the state down, pointing out that he would always use their mandate judiciously.
