Win or get fired, Mgt hands Yobe Desert Stars 3-match ultimatum

The Technical crew and players of Yobe Desert Stars Football Club of Damaturu have been handed a three-match ultimatum in the ongoing Nigerian Professional Football League (NPFL) or face the wrath of being fired by the management.

The General Manager of the club, Dr. Habu Abdurahaman Ago, who disclosed this on Thursday at August 27 Stadium expressed displeasure over recent performances by the Yobe soccer outfit.

Ago said: “Haven lost three, drew one and won three matches, I wish to state here that, the Technical crew and the players of Yobe Desert Stars Football club have been given 3 match ultimatum to prove themselves, and if they did not, we will fire them”.

“We are not impressed with their performance. Football is all aboutbusiness. Their salaries and allowances have all been paid, so we did
not see any reason why they should not perform well.

On the bribery allegations published two days back by an online medium, the General Manager, said he was not aware of any thing in that regard and that if the medium has prove, they should present to the management.

“If the story is from the club, we have our media department and SWAN. We do not know the source of the story. Primarily, if you want to prove bribery allegations, you present the video evidence to testify where the problem is,” he said.

Ago further pleaded with the Yobe state government to support the club with funds enable it sign more talented players that can deliver.

Yobe Desert Stars are at the bottom in the group ‘B’ of NPFL as at Thursday, February 14, 2019 after Kada city and Gombe United
football clubs.
