Windstorm destroys 1,536 houses in Jigawa

Windstorm has destroyed 1,536 houses and property worth millions of naira in four local government areas of Jigawa state.
Executive Secretary of the state Emergency Management Agency (SEMA), Alhaji Yusuf Sani, disclosed this Dutse yesterday.
He said the disaster, which occurred between May 3 and June 6, this year, affected 833 people in 12 villages in Babura, Dutse, Guri, Gumel and Kiyawa local government areas.
According to him, in Babura, the windstorm affected 58 persons, 273 persons in Dutse, 305 persons in Guri and 108 persons in Kiyawa.
The executive secretary added that the agency was conducting an assessment of the damage caused by the windstorm in the affected communities with a view to assisting the victims.
