WITED advocates women involvement in economy

Women In Technology, Education and Employment (WITED), has insisted on having their colleagues in all sectors of the economy, especially in the men dominated areas.
In its National Conference and Exhibitions held at the Federal Polytechnic, Nekede Owerri, with the theme: “Science, Technology, Entrepreneurship, Women Employment and Sustainable Development-The New Paradigm”, the Rector of the institution, Dr. Mrs. Celestina Njoku, said: “WITED has gone a long way and will continue to exist for both the male and the female”.
She urged female lecturers to encourage male in female dominated areas like in Office Practice Management (OPM) and also encourage and build confidence in female students in order to take up positions in male dominated jobs.
While advising that they should not be allowed to be intimidated, she assured that after her tenure as Rector of the institution, which would be ending soon, she would be going back to classroom to continue with the sensitisation of having women take up male dominated jobs and organise seminars and workshops to that effect.
Former WITED National Coordinator, Professor Gloria Chukwudebe, described conferences as avenues for sharing love, making friends and assisting in researches.
