Woman arrested for burning rival’s son with hot water

A middle-aged woman, Kadijat Yahaya has been arrested by the police in Kuje, in the Federal Capital Territory(FCT) for allegedly dumping the 18 month old son of her husband’s second wife in boiling water and causing the little boy grievous harm in the process.
The distressed mother of the child, Mrs. Nana Yahaya, who narrated the ordeal of the little boy in the hands of the jealous second wife in tears to Blueprint, said that she went to the market to purchase household items on the day of the incident while the child was at home with the accused.
Mrs. Nana Yahaya claimed that the accused alleged that she was annoyed with the boy for daring to eat the moi-moi (a local beans meal) consumed by several Nigerian communities, she cooked without her permission.
The mother of the little boy who was badly burnt on the buttocks and his two hands reported the matter to the Village Head of Chukuku, a suburb of Kuje Area Council, Abuja who invited the police to intervene in the matter.
Kuje Divisional Police Officer, Chief Superintendent of Police (CSP), Mr. Zango was not available to comment on the matter, and calls to his phone could not get through but a police officer at the Kuje Police Headquarters said investigations have commenced in the matter and that the accused will be charged to court soon.
