Women group seeks removal of obstacles to financial, political opportunities

The Association of Nigerian Women Business Network, (ANWBN), has advocated for the removal of inhibitions to financial and political opportunities for women across the country.

ANWBN, made this call during 2022 summit of “Women connect” to innovate, inspire and influence connection on all fronts held in Lagos.

They said the association has pursued and identified ways to make the Nigerian business environment better over the years, including exploring E-commerce, advocating for issues that border on women empowerment and inclusion in promoting women equality, mentoring women in politics and advocating for women economic power through access to finance, as well as  become innovative and move towards scaling up in their businesses.

Speaking to journalists at the event, the national coordinator, Mrs  Modupe Temitope Oyekunle, said  the objective of the event was to bring all the women together after a whole year, look at a particular subject matter that affects women, which is “strengthening of our connections – in primary associations as members,  with respect to businesses, opportunities available for women, which was why we brought in women from UN with respect to affirmative action, women in trade and agriculture, in politics as well as other coalitions outside of Nigeria in what we can  leverage on or learn from them.”

She said that building the capacity of women in governance, inclusion of women in all levels of government in terms of competence, character and readiness must be the key.
