Work with us to fish out criminals, MACBAN tells security, Benue

The Miyetti Allah Cattle Breeders Association of Nigeria (MACBAN), yesterday, said security agencies need to work closely with his association if they must fish out criminal herdsmen among them.
North Central Zonal Chairman of MACBAN, Alhaji Danladi Chiroma, also told newsmen in Makurdi that they were aware that the Fulani have criminal elements among them, which was why government of Benue needed to work closely with them.
He urged leaders from both divides to cooperate for peace to return to the state.
“Leaders of the Benue people and Fulani herdsmen have to come together so they can fish out the criminals causing problem for Benue to live in peace.
Security agencies have also to work with the Fulani herders to fish out the real criminals,” he said.
Chiroma said since the grazing law, though not acceptable to them, has been implemented, the association would cooperate with the state government to expose criminal elements from both sides responsible for the current crisis in the state.
He added that the law should have provided for space for them to ranch as well as other social amenities considering that the herders have co-existed with the Benue people for over 100 years.
The MACBAN leader, had on Tuesday, led a delegation to Governor Samuel Ortom and told him of his members’ readiness to obey the Open Grazing Prohibition and Ranches Establishment Law, and also cooperate with the state government to expose criminal elements responsible for the current.
