The federal government has declared Monday, May 2, 2016, as public holiday to commemorate this year’s Workers’ Day anniversary.
Minister of Interior, Gen. Abdulrahman Bello Dambazau, who made the declaration on behalf of the federal government, congratulated the nation’s workers for their resilience, hard work and commitment to the change mantra of President Muhammadu Buhari, despite current challenges.

A statement issued yesterday in Abuja by the Ministry’s Permanent Secretary, Bassey Okon Akpanyung, urged the workers to continue to support the President “in his desire to fight corruption, ensure security of lives and property and stabilise the economy through creation of jobs and diversification of the economy.”
The statement further called on the workers to re-dedicate themselves to the service of the nation and remain productive for the growth and development of the country.
Dambazau, however, wished all the Nigerian workers a joyful and peaceful celebration.
