World Bank to support Bauchi on construction of 500 kms roads


World Bank is to support Bauchi state government to construct 500 kilometers roads under the Rural Access and Agricultural Marketing Project.


The state Commissioner of Budget and Economic Planning, Dr Aminu Hassan Gamawa made this known monday while answering questions from newsmen in Bauchi.


Gamawa said already the World Bank has pledged to support the state government with funds to fast track the execution of the project.


He said the  project was part of the determination of the present administration in the state to ensure rural farmers transport their products without any hitches.


The Commissioner said to assist governor Bala Mohammed to find lasting solution to the challenges affecting critical sectors of the state economy, the ministry would ensure transparency and accountability in the budget proposal submitted by Ministries, Departments and Agencies of the state.


He noted that the ministry was requested to work out modalities towards finding lasting solution to challenges facing Education, Health, Agriculture, unemployment and Poverty among others.


Gamawa promised that the ministry would assist the governor to deliver on his campaign promises through monitoring and supervision of awarded projects.


He reaffirmed the resolve of the State Ministry of Budget and Planning to capture the campaign promises of the governor  in the next budget proposal and ensure their full implementation.


This is even as the Commissioner said the state government is reviewing the abandoned projects across the state  with a view to looking into the possibility of their completion.
