World Champions storm Abuja for Africa Cycling track tourney, hails Velodrome at Moshood stadium

As the first ever Africa cycling track cup takes place in Abuja, three times former world champion Giorgia Bronzini has expressed happiness as one of the invited guests to grace the occasion.

Speaking to Blueprint shortly before kick-off, Bronzini said she enjoyed the treat being by the Cycling Federation of Nigeria (CFN) & hopes to see the best of cycling in this two days event.

The Italian who is known for her dominance in the point race quitted active cycling September 2018 and has thrown her support for all the women that will be participating in this weekend’s event.

“I’m hoping to see more women participate in this track cup”

“The tactics of each country will be interesting to see, & i want to believe that Nigeria will do very well too,” she said.

Meanwhile, Roberto Chiappa, two times former world champion has commended every logistics put in place that will ensure the successful hosting of the first ever Africa track cup in Nigeria, saying the velodrome is completely unbelievable.

According to her, “the velodrome is unbelievable”

“The championship is going to be a good opportunity for those that will take part. Its going to be a good experience for all the riders & i hope it will be a good competition.

Also, Andrea Tonti who has been in the cycling world as a professional for many years said the timing of the event is perfect & will be good for all the athletes, even as he believes that the future is bright & that Nigerian cyclists will grow into the sport in the nearest future.

President of the federation, Engr Giandomewico Massari, is optimistic that the event is going to be a success, believing that the birth of the first African cup track will further open more opportunities for Nigerian cyclists to excel at the global stage.

He noted that every logistics have been put in place & remains bullish that the world will see the best of cycling for the first time in Nigeria.
