World Cup: Eagles lose by lone goal against Czech Republic

A 25th minute goal by Tomas Kalas was enough for the Czech Republic to confine the Super Eagles of Nigeria to a back-to-back defeat in their final warm up match before they depart for the World Cup in Russia.

The match played at the Rudolf Tonne Stadion in Austria was abandoned for 5 minutes in the second half as torrential rains poured on the turf.

Nigeria’s Wilfred Ndidi is pursued by two Czech players as the rains pour during the match

The game, Nigeria’s first since the final 23 man world cup list was released, is the second defeat in a week for the team. It comes after a 2-1 defeat to the Three Lions of England at the Wembley stadium in London.

Coach Gernot Rohr and his team are now expected to jet out to Russia in earnest where it will play its opening match against Croatia on June 16.
