Forestry Department, Federal Ministry of Environment collaborated with some associations in the fight against degraded lands across the country.
Acting Director of Forestry Department, Federal Ministry of Environment,Mr Tolu Osakuade, said that the department is set to create awareness on the importance of forests, its values, significance and contributions to a balanced life on earth.
He made this call during the International Day of Forest Celebration that was held recently at the LEA Primary School, Utako Abuja.
“It is a platform to educate the masses on the importance of all types of wetland and trees, and celebrate the ways in which they sustain and protect us,”he added.
Osakuade said the celebration with the T h e m e “ Fo re s t a n d Sustainable Cities’’ was focused on creating on the importance of trees in the cities.
