The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) chairman in the Federal Capital Territory, FCT, Hon Ibrahim Biko has declared that the gale of defections which hit the state chapter in recent times was caused by self centered politicians who were bent on continuing in their positions but could not do anything in appreciation of the party’s gesture to them.
Biko who stated this during an interview in Abuja lamented that the former Senator representing the FCT, Jubril Wowo, the lawmaker representing AMAC/Bwari, the immediate past Kuje Area Council Chairman, Danladi Etsu Zhin amongst others who dumped the party were ingrates who were not satisfied with the much the PDP had done for them.
The FCT chairman who rained curses on those who deserted the party for no justifiable reason despite being big beneficiaries of the party, said at the right time, God would have to pay them back in their own coin.
Hon Biko was however expressed happiness that despite their ingratitude to the party, PDP has continued to wax strong while attributing the lack of cohesion in the All Progressives Congress (APC) to the monumental betrayal of PDP.
According to Biko, “as the disgruntled politicians have gone, thousands of people are coming back to the party.
He also stated that the FCT PDP was not worried by the defections while noting that those who left the party were not followed by other members.
“We are not worried because those people that you have just mentioned are people whose conducts were not satisfactory. Most of these individuals are people who were not satisfied with what the PDP has done for them.
“Most Nigerians in other parties today, PDP made them to become what they are. But the only thing there is that Allah is the only one that will punish these people. Where they cheat PDP, Allah is going to cheat them because almost all of the became what they are under PDP. Those that dumped PDP before to form APC, because APC was formed by some people who left APC. Most of their governors, House of Assembly members, National Assembly members were formerly PDP.
“Now what is going on today? PDP remains the party to beat and that is why APC members are at loggerheads with one another because it is not a party. People just gathered to form an association. People like Danladi Zhin, Jisalo Zephaniah, Ibrahim Wowo as you just mentioned are people who have their personal ambitions.
“Wowo himself, from ANPP to PDP, from PDP to APC, all he is after is his own personal thing not for anybody, not after even FCT or any individual but himself. They feel they should continue to be there and that is the very dangerous part if life. You will continue to be there, nobody else apart from you.
“Once you have such selfish ambition, the next thing is that you will fall. For example Jisalo, what has he become in the world that is not PDP? Starting from when he was a term chairman of the AMAC under PDP. What has the PDP done to you?
“Of course when he saw he cannot contest again, he cannot contest Senatorial seat against his brother, Philip Aduda and he cannot come back to contest for the seat in the House of Reps. Those were his grievances. He this he must continue to be relevant all the time and that’s what made him to leave the party. So we are not regretting. When he was in the party he didn’t help the party, he didn’t help anybody, he only helped himself and now we are happy that he left.
“As he has gone thousands of people are coming and remember, Jisalo did not leave the party with anybody. Go and ask anywhere, if he had a follower, even one, let him mention the person. And after he left people that also ran away from the party most of them came back to the party, thousands of them.
“The same with Wowo. There is nothing that PDP did not do for Wowo. There was no type of money or property that Wowo did not acquire while he was working as a Personal Adviser (political) to the former FCT minister, Senator Bala Mohammed. Isn’t it? He left the party immediately the party lost election. What made him to leave the party? Nobody drove him away but because of his own personal selfish ambition.
About the former Kuje chairman Danladi Zhin, he stated that nobody defected to APC with him saying that his brothers and sisters were still in PDP.
“He didn’t tell anybody his grievances. After the election, we supported him, PDP supported him, he won primary elections but he could not win in the main election. Immediately he lost the general election, he was appointed into a position as a board member. What else does he want that made him to leave the party?
“So there were no clearly defined reasons why these people left the party but it is a blessing to the party. We are not regretting because more people are coming into the party.”
He stated that the party is prepared to face election in the FCT adding that the people who left PDP because of the selfish ambitions of the defected politicians were now coming back to PDP.
