Wrestling: Team Nigeria commences training in N/York

The President of the Nigeria Wrestling Federation (NWF), Daniel Igali, on Tuesday said that his team has commenced training ahead of the “Beat The Streets Invitational Wrestling Tournament’’ in New York City.
Igali said on telephone from New York that the team is using the facilities of the New York Athletic Club for its workout.
“ After our arrival on Monday, the wrestlers rested from the long flight and later took to the mat to exercise and train.
“The training will continue till the day of the competition, and with what I’m seeing them do on the mats, they are good to compete.
“All they need to do is to be focused and tactical because their bouts will be an easy win for them, ” he said.
The wrestlers already in the U.S. are Odunayo Adekuoroye (57kg) and Aminat Adeniyi (62kg) while Blessing Oborududu (68kg) will join them when she secures her visa.
The wrestlers, it was learnt, are being trained by Purity Akuh, the National Female Wrestling Coach.
Team Nigeria departed on Sunday for the competition holding on Thursday at the popular Times Square in New York City.
