Wuddivira: A principal worthy of emulation

At a time when education is grappling with myriad of challenges and many youths are shying away from it, there is a hard working and experienced school principal, Mr Hussaini Wuddivira, who is worthy of emulation. Wuddivira, who has been in the teaching profession for over two decades, is a force to reckon with. He has acquired enormous teaching experience and imparted knowledge to many students who passed through his tutelage.

Our path crossed when Wuddivara was posted to Government Secondary School, Pambegua, Kaduna state. As an old student who passed out of the school in 1999, the principal, Mr Wuddivira, included me under the state government School Based Monitoring Committee (SBMS), after I had been recommended by some members of our community. Even before we met, I was told about his passion for the development of my former school through dedication to duties. He is a no-nonsense administrator, who instills discipline to students. Wuddivara ensures that staff give their best in terms of punctuality and performance. He rewards hardwork and punishes laziness.

During our first SBMC meeting, Wuddivara outlined his marshal plans for the school and sought out inputs. He hardly takes decisions unilaterally without accommodating the ideas of others. He is an administrator who always engages his staff and seek their advise on how he can run the school successfully. Last year, during Pambegua Old Students Association (POSA) annual general meeting, Wuddivara intellectually and brilliantly presented the problems affecting the school such as insecurity, inadequate manpower as many classes lack teachers in subjects like government and economics.

Wuddivira drew the attention of the members to intervene and do the needful for the progress of the school. It was during the meeting that old students who graced the occasion realised that the principal used his personal funds to carry out numerous maintenance for the development of the school.

Mr Hussaini Nakka Wuddivira (Dan Masani Kabane) was born on September 20, 1967 in Kabene 1, Kauru local government area of Kaduna state. He had his early education at LEA Geshere, between 1974 and 1980. He was in GSS Saminaka for general certificate of education from1980 to 1985; College of Advanced Studies, Zaria from 1986 -1988. He attended the famous Ahmadu Bello University (ABU) between 1989 and 1994 where he bagged BSc degree in Zoology.

His quest for more education led him to acquire a professional diploma in education from the Institute of Education, ABU, Zaria, between 2005 and 2006. He currently holds a master’s degree in Crop Protection from ABU. Wuddivira has other certificates which include general ICT and cyber security, theology and computer operations. He is a member of professional bodies such as: NUT, TRC and ANCOPSS.

He started his working career at the Comprehensive Secondary School Bawop, Cross River state in 1994 – 1995.GSSS Maraban Kubau in 1995-2003. He was the vice principal GJSS Ikara 2009-2013, acting principal GJSS Pambegua, 2013-2018. In 2018 he became principal GSS Pambegua (SNR).

Wuddivara has attended various trainings and conferences across the country. They include African Confederation of Principals 2020 edition, Abuja 2021, Mandatory Continuing Professional Training (MCPT), Katsina, 2019; ANCOPSS national conference both in Sokoto and Ondo states. He has carried out many researches such as: the problems of teaching of biology in secondary schools, evaluation of Neem for the management of Aphids on cabbage, etc. He has also contributed greatly to the development of his society and Pambegua community in particular through assisting in self-help projects.

Little wonder, this seasoned administrator and erudite scholar of great repute was recommended or appointed by the Kaduna State Ministry of Education as a principal to the newly built boarding Science Secondary, Pambegua. His intimidating curriculum vitae coupled with his vast experience spanning over two decades have given him an edge over other applicants. Therefore, his appointment did not come to many of us as a surprise. Wuddivira will use his experience to catapult the new science secondary school into greater heights.
