A press release signed by Felix Alade of the public relations department of the institution and made available to Blueprint quoted Omokungbe in his response to the honour accorded him as saying, “The award presented to me is a challenge for me to do more. I want to implore everyone irrespective of religion, ethnicity or belief to put all hands on deck so that we can achieve success together.”

Other beneficiaries of the award include Professor Sola Fosudo for Afrikanwatch Philantropist and Personality of the Year; Professor Emeritus (Capt.) Oloruntoba Timothy for Outstanding Senior Legal Scholar and Arbitrator of the Year; Barr. Olorogun Benson Ndakara and Dr. Etobum Samson for Afrikanwatch Most Resourceful Community Leader of the Year; Controller of prisons, Lagos state, Tunde Ladipo for Afrikanwatch Most Productive Security Expert of the Year, Dr Samson Fasanmi, Afrikanwatch Dynamic Researcher, Orator of the year; Dr Wahab Ademola Azeez, for his strategic contribution to technical education and research.

Speaking at the lecture entitled, ”Nigerians where do we go from here after 58 years of independence,” the editor-in-chief, Afrikanwatch Media, Mr Mark Ogu said that Afrikanwatch media is an online outfit which specialises more on investigative and interpretative journalism within and beyond the affairs of the country. He added that the reason for the selection of the theme was based on the need for all Nigerians to assess themselves and make necessary adjustments where needed. He urged Nigerians to come together as one and see how they could build the nation.

One of the beneficiaries, Dr Fasanmi noted that he was delighted to be among those selected for the award, which was specifically created to celebrate Nigerians who had distinguished themselves in the society, and advised Nigerians out there especially the youths, to be patient towards achieving success. He explained that success is not a sudden phenomenon but requires a gradual process. He therefore admonished youths to start small, be committed, sincere and on the long run, they would be celebrated by everyone.

Head of public relations, Yabatech, Mr. Joe Ejiofor who reviewed the memoir described it as a collector’s item that should find a befitting place on the library shelves of our tertiary institutions.
