Yar’Adua Foundation BoT raises team on Centre’s 20th anniversary

The Board of Trustees (BoT) of the Shehu Musa Yar’Adua Foundation has set up a committee for the 20th anniversary of the commissioning of the Shehu Musa Yar’Adua Centre.

This was contained in a statement issued by the Foundation’s director-  general, Jacqueline Farris, on Friday in Abuja.

According to the statement, the committee will be headed by Mr Akin Kekere-Ekun.

Farris also disclosed that the Board also met on June 13, 2019, to review the activities of the Foundation for the year 2018 and programmes/projects for 2019/2020.

The statement read in part: “The Board of Trustees of the Shehu Musa Yar’Adua Foundation met on June 13, 2019 in the Boardroom of the Yar’adua Centre under the chairmanship of H.E. Olusegun Obasanjo, GCFR. Also present at the meeting were Alhaji (Dr.) Umaru Mutallab, Mr. Akin Kekere-Ekun, Chief Dubem Onyia, Malam Murtala Yar’Adua and Mrs. Jacqueline Farris. Apologies were received from H.E. Atiku Abubakar, GCON, Hajia Binta Yar’Adua, General Aliyu Mohammed Gusau (retd.) and Mr. Yomi Edu.

“The Board reviewed the progress of the Foundation’s activities for the year 2018 and approved programmes and projects for 2019/2020 which include climate change education and awareness, promoting good governance and responsible management of public resources and confronting gender-based violence.”

It further read: “The position of the 24 Yar’Adua Merit Scholars in Nigerian universities supported by the Foundation was received and commendations were sent to those who have creditably concluded their studies.

“The audited accounts for the financial year 2018 were also considered and approved. The Board established a committee to plan for the twentieth anniversary of the commissioning of the Shehu Musa Yar’Adua Centre in 2021 under the chairmanship of Mr. Akin Kekere-Ekun.

“The Board also commended management and staff for their meritorious service and expressed appreciation to development partners who support the Foundation’s initiatives.”
