Yinka Akanbi’s new Album, Ajo for launch Nov 27

Versatile performing artiste, Yinka Akanbi is adding to his cap with the impending release of his first musical album. The album titled Ajo, will be formally presented on November 27, 2016 in Lagos.
The 10-track album, according to Akanbi is the product of over two decades of active romance with the performance of all genres of music has been doing.
Akanbi who has more than 25 years’ experience as a writer, director, song writer, performer and actor said in a statement on Monday that his music is inspired by the Gelede festival in Ibara Abeokuta as well as the  influence of music legends like  Ayinla Omowura, Yusuff  Olatunji, King Sunny Ade, Ebenezer Obey, Michael Jackson, Bob Marley.

Tracks in album which is a potpourri of traditional African music modes like highlife and juju is Akanbi’s modest didactic contribution to the essential values of Peace, religious tolerance. It is also a reawakening of our cultural essence. It adopts a largely folkloric mood which is bound to resonate and elicit nostalgic recollections in listeners.
Tracks in the album include: Afefelaye, Femi Ju beelo (featuring Yinka Davies) Eyin lohun, Ajo, (featuring Sweeden based Ajani Jacobs), Boya lemo, Eleda, Omosalewa (featuring Bunmi Sanya) and Mama rele.
Yinka Akanbi who holds a degree in Dramatic Arts from Obafemi Awolowo University Ile-Ife and a Masters Degree in Theatre Arts from University of Lagos has just been offered admission to run his doctorate at the Creative Arts Department, University of Lagos. He has collaborated with notable Nigerian practitioners including Tunde Kelani, Tade Ogidan, Jimi Odumosu in the production of numerous internationally acclaimed movie projects. He currently runs Pisces Audio-Visuals Limited.
