Yobe: 680 youths to benefit from paint production training

Local Government Councils in Yobe state is partnering Kano consultancy firm to train 680 youths on paint production technology to be self employed.

Declaring the training open on Thursday, Governor Mai Mala Buni, represented by his deputy Idi Barde Gubana, said the programme was geared towards job and wealth creation drives of the state government.

“The strategy involves training of 680 youths, with 40 beneficiaries drawn per local government, and is a noble initiative to equip these youths with adequate skills that would make them expert paint formulators.”

Buni, further urged the trainees to make the best use of their six weeks stay and acquire all the skills that will be imparted by the master trainers.

The Permanent Secretary, Ministry for Local Government and Chieftaincy Affairs, Alhaji Ibrahim Abba Geidam, explained that the training would expose the participants to an intensive all-round type of training with a view to making them responsible citizens.

“At the end of the exercise, we hope to produce reasonably skilled paint manufacturers who can set up their own small scale paint manufacturing plants and employee more hands.

“This opportunity is coming at a time when the state is embarking on a massive housing programme, is a great fortune for the trainees,” he said.

Some of the intended trainees, Hamza Ali and Aminu Dalhatu, thanked their various local government councils for the opportunity given to be part of the trainings.

The training is expected to last for six weeks in which starter packs would be provided to all participants.
