Yobe APC: Beyond Hassan Gimba’s thesis

Reading Hassan’s Gimba’s essay “Consensus a positive pointer from Yobe APC” leaves one with the wrong impression.
The essay which appeared in Blueprint seems inconclusive.
There is a difference between Yobe state APC and Alhaji Ibrahim Geidam.
This is fact that should sink into the head of Hassan Gimba.
Tenure of Alhaji Ibrahim Gaidam will end but Yobe state and APC will be there – and life will go on.
Gimba made attempted to highlight the disadvantage of ‘direct primary’ elections by twisting hearsay from the past.
He made efforts but failed to prove that direct primary election is not good.
How can a system that all APC chapters are yearning for and was adopted by politically enlightened states like Kano and Lagos be described as not right for democracy? Right now many states APC chapters – including Yobe are pushing and insisting that direct primary elections must hold.
So, where does Hassan Gimba get his idea that direct primary election is not right? Hassan Gimba laboured through his essay to launder the image of Alhaji Mai Mala Buni.
He did not tell us what is Mai Mala Buni’s qualification? He did not tell us if Buni had any formal education beyond secondary school.
He did not tell us working experience of Buni.
He did not us tell what leadership qualities Buni has demonstrated since becoming APC National Secretary.
He did not tell us what value Buni is bringing to Yobe state beyond the fact that he will become the puppet of Alhaji Ibrahim Gaidam.
He did not tell us what Buni achieved as APC National Secretary.
Without these Gimba struggled and failed to prove to the people of Yobe state why Buni is the right man to move Yobe forward.
Did Hassan Gimba refer to Buni as ‘philosophical leader’? The distance between philosophy and a secondary school leaver who has no pedigree cannot be measured easily.
Does Gimba really know the meaning of ‘philosophy’ and ‘leader’? Gimba has no right to turn WRONG into RIGHT.
Hassan Gimba cannot manufacture a personality for any person.
Referring to Mai Mala Buni as a person who is helpful to the needy should have been followed by a show of his philanthropic work.
People of Yobe want freedom to choose through direct primary elections.
No one is good enough to lead people without their consent.
I took my time to respond to Hassan Gimba only because the records have to be made straight.
If Mai Mala Buni is popular or the best he should seek people’s mandate not the endorsement of Gaidam.
Gimba should have been pushing for justice and fairness in Yobe politics.
As a ‘journalist’ he should have been on the side of the truth only.
