Yobe: Army restores sell of petrol at Geidam Filling stations

Residents of Geidam in Yobe state has said the army has restored
selling of Premium Motor Spirit (PMS), otherwise known as fuel in all the filling stations after shutting them down on Tuesday.

The Public Relations Officer of Geidam Chambers of Commerce and Chairman Geidam Joint Associations, Idriss Bappa, disclosed to blueprint on Tuesday evening.

He said the shut down forced some pupils to stay in door due to high cost of transportation.

“All petrol filling stations belonging to Independent and Major
Marketers were shut down on Tuesday morning by army.  When we reported the matter to media and the civil society organization, the sells were restored back Tuesday evening”, he said.

When the spokesman of the 27 Taskforce Brigade, Lt. Col. Njoka Irabor,
was earlier contacted through text message, he promised to investigate
the matter, however, as at time of filling this report, no response
was received but the petrol stations were allowed to reopen.

Geidam market was long shut down as result of Boko Haram insurgency in January, 2019.
