Federal Government College (FGC) Buniyadi Old Students Association in Yobe state has called on the federal government to fully implement the ‘save schools initiative’ so that schools destroyed by Boko Haram terrorists could be rebuilt, provided with security and other infrastructure.
The Acting President of the Association, Abba Disa Idriss, disclosed this on Saturday at the maiden reunion programme aimed at bringing
cordial relationship among former students and also provide succour to the school.
According to Disa, the school is currently operating at Federal Government Girls College (FGGC) Potiskum since when the school was
destroyed by the insurgents which led to drop of school enrolments in the area.

and a member of the Alumni, Dr. Ali I. Abba, in his paper presentation titled “Rebuilding
Educational Institution in Post Conflicts societies, said even before the advent of the Boko Haram, North had always been backward in terms of education.
Abba said heads must be put together to arrest the situation, adding: “because education is gradually becoming a sorry sector in the region.
He further, said hope has not been lost with the improved security in those areas affected by the insurgency, if leaders would give much
priority to education more than ever before.
In their remarks, the Special Guests at the occasion and an Alumni Member, Hon. Abdullahi Bazuwa who is the Member representing Potiskum constituency at the State House of Assembly and Dr. Zara Yusuf, said it was their joyous moment to meet their school mates after parting for over 16 years.
They thanked God for sparing their lives to witness the day.
FGC Buniyadi was one of the schools in Yobe attacked severally by insurgents, killing many students.
The Association is expected to conduct election to choose leaders that would oversee its affairs.
