The Executive Secretary, State Emergency Management Agency (SEMA), Dr. Mohammed Goje, has said communities in eight out of the seventeen local government councils of the state had so far been consumed by flood within 2 weeks.
Goje told Blueprint correspondent Sunday while giving updates on the disaster in Damaturu.
According him, the Executive Governor, Mai Mala Buni had given a matching order to provide immediate needs to all the affected victims.
“The number of the communities affected by the flood is on the increase; so far as at today Sunday, communities in Fika, Fune, Damaturu, Nguru, Bursari, Yunusari, Machina and Geidam have been affected.”
“Our staffs are moving round the clock to see that we provide them with food and non food assistance as short term measures as directed by the Executive Governor, Mai Mala Buni” he said.
Some victims, Ali Adamu and Asamau Abubakar who spoke to blueprint, said the situation is so alarming, therefore call on the federal government to assist the Yobe state, because the state may be over stretched.
