Yobe: Gov Buni resurrects town hall meeting, 30 years after

In an effort to get in touch with the masses at the grassroots level, Governor Mai Mala Buni of Yobe state has resurrected town hall meeting in the state.

The governor who was on a thank you visit to Potiskum local government Wednesday, interacted with businessmen, farmers, transporters, among other stakeholders.

He said: “We have come to thank you all for the sacrifices you made which led to our victory at the polls and to re-assure you that the
promises we made are still fresh in our minds”.

“Already approval has been granted for the construction of Trailer park in Potiskum by the Nigerian Shippers Council and on our own side
we will build mechanic village here to allow constructions and developments within the town,” he said.

The governor told the residents that he would run all inclusive government in a bid to make life meaningful for all. 

He called on the people to live harmoniously with each other for total return of peace in the state.

Earlier in his welcome address, the care taker chairman of Potiskum local government, Salisu Muktari, said the re-introduction of the town
hall meeting, 30 years after has rekindled their hope.

He sought for provision of furniture at the renovated local government secretariat, re-absorbion of local staff whose names were deleted during the last verification and provision of water.

Muktari, also said Potiskum having the largest livestock market in Nigeria was in dear need of modern abattoir in the community.

In her remarks, the All Progressive Congress )APC) State Women Leader, Hajiya Ladi Jibrin, called on the governor to provide empowerment to women in a bid to mitigate hawking among young girls.
