Yobe state government said it has recovered the 206 cows rustled last
Sunday by armed bandits in Adamawa state and handed them over to the
owners.
Governor Mai Mala Buni represented by the Director Security services
in the governor’s office, Yakubu Damagum, disclosed this to Blueprint
on Friday while handing over the cows to owners in Damaturu.
He said: “Today being July 26, 2019 we are happy to announce the recovery of 206 heads of cattle and handing them over to their rightful owners.
“The 206 heads of cattle were recovered from armed bandits who stole
them from their rearers on July 21, 2019, by the team of vigilantes who were assisted by the security agencies,” Buni said.
Buni reiterated his administration’s determination to continue to support security agencies to improve their forum for inter-agency synergy, coordination and collaboration in order to neutralise crime in the state.
Yobe Police Commissioner, Somounu Abdulmaliki, represented by the
Deputy Commissioner Muhammad Isyaku stated that the two out of five
bandits were captured, two lost their lives on the course of fire exchange with security operatives, while the other one had escaped.
The four cattle owners who administered oaths that they had received back their cows intact, were Alhaji Amadu Gidado who had received his 42 cows, Kawoji Gabdo 57, Ja’o Sarki 51 and Alhaji Janyo Maiyara with others.
The Chairman, Miyetti Allah Cattle Rearers in Yobe, Ibrahim Nangere
and Malam Abubakar Umar, Vice Chairman Miyetti Allah Adamawa state
have expressed their happiness for the recovery of the cattle.
They also commended the efforts of Yobe security operatives, saying other security operatives from other states should emulate their gallantry performance.
