Yobe: Group commissions youth peace projects

A Non Governmental Organisation (NGO) known as Hope Interactive committed to promotion of innovation approach to positive human development, and behavioral pattern has engaged youths in a peace initiative in Yobe state.

Commissioning some of its projects through Youth Peace Platforms (YPP)
in some selected communities in Damaturu, the Yobe state capital, the
programme manager, Andrew Wayuta, said youth peace platform was given fund to undertake any kind of peace initiative that would unite youth in the community or solve any cause of conflict within the society.

“Some communities engage in health sector, construction of drainage,
emergency latrine, saloon. The projects on health had helped the
communities to clean their environment, solve conflict brought by open
defecation in the society.

“As for drainage, water channels had caused lots of conflict, and
saloon, to train one another to reduce the level of unemployment,” he
said.

Some of the communities leaders, Mallam Yusuf Abdullahi Sarki Nayi
Nawa and Abdulhamid Usman Pompomari thumped up Hope Interactive for creating job for teaming youth and bringing sanity to the communities.

Projects commissioned were hair barbing saloon, drainage and VIP
toilets all in Damaturu.
