Yobe: Group harps on education for women

A group, Hope interactive in collaboration with Conciliation Resources has staged street walk to commemorate International Women’s Day  in Damaturu,  the Yobe state capital, calling on the state government to establish women day secondary school across  major cities.

Speaking after walk, the Programme Manager Hope Interactive, Adamu Yahaya, said the commemoration of women’s day is everyone’s responsibility and it remain very important in every sphere of human endeavor.

According to him, the commemoration of the day was not just to show the society that they celebrate women but to create awareness on the significant roles women play in societal development and nation building.

“We are here to tell the world that women are very important in every aspect of life and government should create more skills acquisition and empower more women so as to bring them into decision making “he said.

Similarly, Joy Nyema from Hope Interactive urged the state government to help women realize their rights, and support them in the aspect of education.

“Yobe state government should  build  more day secondary school for Women in the state, this would help  increase women enrolment and enable them contribute their quota  towards development of the  state and the country at large”.
