Yobe media platform to partner CSOs for the voiceless

Yobe state Media Platform of Voice and Accountability has resolved to partner with civil society organisations (CSOs) to voice the demands of the indigenes. Th e decision to that eff ect was taken yesterday at the maiden meeting of the platform held at the conference hall of the MNCH2 in Damaturu, the state capital. Welcoming the members at the meeting, the chairman of the platform who is also chairman of Nigeria Union of Journalists (NUJ), Yobe state chapter, Comrade Yusuf A. Isah, called on the members to reposition themselves for a greater task ahead of them to enlighten the citizens on their rights and also stand in the gap between the voice and the voiceless.

“We have been selected to form a coalition and also to serve as a voice to the citizens, therefore we will strategise and modify the platform so that voice of the citizens could be heard,” he said. Earlier, the representative of the PERL, Malam Musa Waziri, thanked the members for coming together to share ideas and promised to give all the necessary assistance the platform might need in order to achieve the desired goal. “PERL-ECP will continue to support systems to understand role and citizens to constructively engage government to achieve participatory government,” he said. Blueprint gathered that membership of the Platform were drawn across the media organisations, both print and electronic, in the state to amplify indigenes’ voice, stressing that they were all identifi ed based on their respective records of performance.
