Yobe NAWOJ sensitises girl-child on hygiene

Nigerian Association of Women Journalists (NAWOJ), an affiliate of the Nigeria Union of Journalists (NUJ), has organised a one-day lecture in Damaturu, the Yobe state capital, to commemorate International Day for the Girl Child with the theme “The power of the Adolescent Girl Vision 2030.”
The Commissioner of Police in the state, Mr. Salman Abdulmaliki, who was represented by the Public Relations Officer, Mr. Jafiya Zubairu, commended NAWOJ for its efforts observing the Day “which will in no small measure assist the female students to have first-hand information on hygiene, especially during menstrual periods.”
In their goodwill messages, the Principals of Government Girls Secondary schools in Buniyadi and Bunigari thanked NAWOJ for selecting their schools for the lecture which, according to them, will help the students on hygiene and disease prevention.
Earlier, in her welcome address, the chairperson of the NAWOJ in the state, Hajiya Fatima Paga, said “we organised the lecture to sensitise girl-child on the importance of hygiene and diseases prevention especially during their menstrual period in order to curb the cases of unnecessary diseases.”
The occasion featured a lecture on hygiene, hand washing among others.
