Yobe: New SDG State Coordinator to link state with devt agencies

The newly appointed State Coordinator, Sustainable Development Goals
(SDGs) in Yobe, Musa Sule Damagum, has promised to link the state with
development agencies inorder to upgrade healthcare, environment, water
and sanitation, education, gender equality among other sectors.

He, made the pledge Tuesday while taking over the mantle of leadership
from the former state coordinator who is now the Accountant General of
the state.

His words, “I wish to thank Governor Mai Mala Buni for finding me
worthy for this task.  SDG is a multi-sectoral goal which drives its
funding for federal, state governments and donour agencies of the
member nations.

“Therefore we intend to pursue approaches and linkages with development
agencies to add value to what we intend do.  We will harness resources
to make sure the sectors bring changes to the lives of our people”, he
said.

He therefore sought for cooperation of the staff of the agency, saying
without their support no matter how dedicated he -was, no meaningful
development can be achieved.

Damagum, who had worked with Presidential Committee Northeast
Initiatives (PCNI) will use this vast experience to develop the sector

Earlier, the outgoing coordinator, Usman Bura, said they had done well
in the area of poverty eradication, water and sanitation, primary
healthcare and primary education, but there are more to be done for
citizens to feel the impact.

Bura, called on the new state coordinator to be focused and build on
the successes recorded by the agency.
