Yobe: NUYOSS, NEYIF train 200 women on skill scquisition

National Union of Yobe State Students (NUYOSS) in collaboration with North East Initiative For Development (NEYIF) has trained 200 vulnerable women in the state to eradicate poverty and be self dependent.

NEYIF Executive Director, Dauda Mohammed Gombe, disclosed this Tuesday in Damaturu at a closing ceremony of the training for vulnerable women with a theme “Women Entrepreneurship Scheme”.   The programme was designed to target 200 vulnerable women whom their husbands might have been killed or suffered violence.

He said: “The project is targeting vulnerable women in the society, especially those whom have been bartered, divorced, sexually molested and widows inorder to be self reliant.”

“We are supporting NUYOSS to bridge the gap in exposing the women in development of contemporary world.  A total of 10,000 women and children from Yobe, Borno and Adamawa states would be trained” he said.

Gombe, further said only 1,000 would be empowered with capital to start up a business, therefore enjoined the state government and other meaningful individuals to assist.

Earlier the special guest of honour, Governor Mai Mala Buni
represented by his Deputy, Idi Barde Gubana, said their administration would continue to partner with organizations towards providing job and wealth creation especially now that white collar jobs are no longer at the finger tips.

“We will create avenue that will engage youths to be independently and develop their potentials.  The era of idealness is over, I enjoined the women to use the skills acquired to help their families” he said.

In his goodwill, Ayinla Olowo, the State Commandant of Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps NSCDC in Yobe, said when every body has something doing, it reduces level of crime.

The women were trained on detergent making, make-ups, fashion among others.
