Yobe police parade 20 crime suspects

Police in Yobe state have paraded 20 suspects for various offences and reiterated commitment to installing civil authority in liberated areas.
It paraded the suspects for committing various crimes across the state.
The offences ranged from culpable homicides, rape, criminal intimidation and conspiracy as well as armed robbery.
Parading them in Damaturu, the state Commissioner of Police, Mr. Zannah Ibrahim, also said the command had received additional logistic supply which would be launched soon to boost crime-prevention and response to distress calls in the state.

While parading the suspects to newsmen, Ibrahim expressed sadness that the rate of culpable homicide and rape were on the increase and called on parents to teach their children good moral and to ensure that they don’t follow bad peers and to avoid staying out late.
He promised that the police would strengthen community enlightenment on the danger of such vices to the growth and development of the society.
On the restoration of the civil authority in liberated areas, the CP said the command was expecting about one thousand man power from the Force headquarters who would be used for the exercise and thanks the presidency and the state government as well as various security agencies and the community for the current peace being enjoyed across the north east.
Ibrahim also introduced a rebranded anti-robbery squad that had just concluded a special training aimed at ensuring a secured socio-economic atmosphere in the state.

A woman activist and president of the National Council for Women Society, Mrs. Halima Joda, decried the high rate of rape among other offences against women in the state.
Giving statistic of rape for the past one year, she said over 80 cases had been recorded within the period, adding that she would ensure that culprits were investigated and prosecuted accordingly to serve as deterrent to them and others.
Blueprint gathered that the suspects would be charged to court upon the completion of investigation.
