Yobe polythene and woven sacks to commence production in 2 weeks – MD



Yobe state polythene and woven sacks company located in Damaturu, the state capital is to commence production in two weeks.

The General Manager of the Company, Engr Shuaibu Gadaka disclosed Tuesday after a test-running of the resuscitated equipment.

Established in 2004, the company had stopped functioning since 2008 due to fault in some equipment and challenge of functional generator set to power the equipment.

Yobe state Governor Buni had paid visit to the company in July 2019 and ordered for immediate resuscitation of the equipment which the sum of N78 million released to the company based on the submission made to him.

“The governor had released to us the sum of N78million for the resuscitation of the company.  Presently, the G.T line known as extruder, tape hangers, looms or woven machine, belling machine and the four colour printing machines are all ready as you can see them running.

“I am assuring you that, in next two weeks we will commence production, what is needed now is the raw material which we will get them ready before the end of next week,” he said.

Shuaibu further, said already a brand new transformer and 500KVA automatic generator set had been supplied and installed while offices would be opened at the three senatorial zones of the state to market the product considering that, 80 per cent of the citizens are farmers.

The General Manager further added the fertilizer blending plant and the Yobe flour and mills under resuscitation will also patronize their products.
