Yobe government rescue about 314 lives and saved properties worth N1billion in the state between 2020 and 2021.
The state Commissioner for Housing and Urban Development, Bukar Alhaji Dauda, disclosed this Thursday while briefing journalists in Damaturu.
He said the Yobe state Fire Service Board effectively responded to fire outbreaks and many other emergency rescue situations to save lives and properties in the state.
Dauda noted that during the period under review, the state government saved a total number of. 314 lives and properties worth N1.075, 064, 890-00 between January 2020 to April 2021.
Also, between January 2020 and April 2021, Yobe state fire service board recorded a total of 686 fire-calls, and 377 rescue calls, Bukar said.
Showcasing some of the achievements under two years of Governor Mai Mala Buni’s administration, the commissioner further said the ministry of housing under review designed and provided bills of quantities for the rehabilitation of eight secondary schools in the three senatorial districts of the state, designed and provided bills of quantities for the construction of modern markets at Damaturu, Potiskum, Nguru and Gashua, respectively.
Other achievements, according to the commissioner, include construction of 200-bed capacity students hostels at Dr Shehu Sule College of Nursing and Midwifery, constitution of 1800 houses as Phase 1 and renovation of Yobe State Television (YTV) complex, Damaturu among others.
