Yobe Stars slash players’, coaches’ salary by 75%

Players and coaching crew of Nigeria National League, NNL side, Yobe Desert Stars are to earn 25 per cent of their salaries and allowances according to report emanating from the Damaturu.
The decision to slash the salaries of the players and coaching crew by 75 per cent was reached on Friday after a meeting by the Club’s Management Committee.


According the resolution of the committee signed by its chairman, Hon. Goni Bukar Lawan, the monthly allowance of the players and technical crew of the main team was reduced by 75% while the Feeder and Under 15 teams would receive 50 per cent of their monthly allowances.
The resolution did not mention if the players of the club were involved in the meeting aimed at reducing their salary.
A letter of the decision titled “Resolution of Management Committee Meeting” a copy of which was obtained by our correspondent, states that the resolution was taken as a result of the coronavirus pandemic ravaging the world.
“The Management Committee of Yobe Desert Stars at the end its meeting today (Friday), April 3rd, 2020 looking at the global pandemic of COVID-19, and the world economic melt down took  the following measures:
Players and technical crew of the main team to receive 25 per cent of their monthly allowances while feeder and U-15 teams with (sic) receive 50 per cent of their monthly allowance
Yobe Desert Stars are in the second tier league , of the country NNL which had but suffered two postponements this year before the dread virus, COVID-19 led to suspension of all football activities in the country.
