Yobe trains 150 staff on finance, audit, others

Yobe state Ministry for Local Government and Chieftaincy Affairs in partnership with State and Local Government Reform (SLOGO) has trained 150 staff of the finance, audit, budget and planning across the 17 local government areas of the state.

The Commissioner for local government and Chieftaincy affairs, Yarima Lawan Mahmud, made this known Thursday in Damaturu, the state capital.

Mahmud stated that the ministry also took proactive steps towards capacity building of over 50 staff of the ministry, culminating in training at the Administrative Staff College Of Nigeria (ASCON) and Nigeria College Of Accountancy respectively.

He further revealed that the ministry had facilitates and secured various approval to cover request of the 17 local government in the state in the areas of water, agriculture, education, security and roads jointly executed with the state government on the basis of 60/40 percent as well as expenditure related to Emirate councils in the state.

He noted that, “the project includes, Constructions of roads and drainages at babbangida in tarmuwa,jaji-maji in karasuwa,buni-yadi in gujba and damagum in fune local government areas respectively.

“Other projects are , facilitating approval for the Constructions of event and computer centres , renovation of chairman official residence and Governor’s lodge in jakusko,and renovation of local government secretariat in damaturu was equally undertaken.”

The Commissioner explained that the ministry also prepared work plan for implementation in the Local government areas costing about 1.7 billion naira aimed at enhancing the living conditions of the citizens of the state.

He commended the effort of the present administration under the leadership of governor Mai Mala Buni at transforming the state covering all sectors of the state economy.
