Yobe state government in collaboration with Saving One Million Lives programmes for RESULTS (SOLM pforR) are to train 10 nurses and doctors on Intensive Care Unit (ICU) and Special Baby Care Unit (SBCU) in the state.
Briefing journalists shortly after a meeting on the preparations of the training, Yobe state Commissioner for Health, Mohammed Lawan Gana, said the health workers were drawn from specialist Hospital, Damaturu, Gashua and Yobe state University Teaching Hospital, Damaturu respectively.
Gana sad Governor Mai Mala Buni, in view of the need to provide high quality services in Yobe state, provided the essential package services that are needed with the establishment of intensive care units across the state hospitals.
Lawan added that the 10 health personnel will be taken to Reddington Group of Hospital, Victoria Island, Lagos, to be trained on ICU and SBCU and to expose them to provide sector way in doing business as well as provide them the necessary knowledge and skill with the view to come back and establish the ward and train others in the state.
“The state provided the infrastructures and the necessary sophisticated state of the art equipments, followed by the training of personnel,” said the health commissioner.
He added that Yobe state government supported personnel to go for trainings, both in service and post service training saying that in view of the need to ensure people come back and serve the state for the duration that is needed and they will be bounded for them to stay and do the service.
The training will last for six weeks, a week in Damaturu, by introducing the workers to the system and later travel to Lagos.
