Yobe upgrades 8 PHCs to General Hospitals

Yobe state government has upgraded 8 Primary Health Care Centres to General Hospitals.

The Commissioner for Health and Human Resources, Dr Muhammed Lawan Gana, stated this Tuesday in Damaturu while briefing journalists on some of the achievements under the health sector within three years of Governor Mai Mala Buni-led administration in the state.

Dr lawan Gana said the eight upgraded PHCs to General Hospitals were PHC Machina, Asibitin Mallam Baba Nguru, PHC Centre Yusufari, PHC Centre Babangida, PHC Centre Bara, PHC Centre Buni-Gari and PHC Centre Yunusari local government areas respectively.

He stated that Governor Buni has assured the citizens of improving access to health services to provide functional and standard systems across the wards of the state and improve scope and coverage of services thereby moving state closer to the achievement of Universal Health Coverage through the mantra of consolidation, continuity and innovation.

He further stated that to facilitate ease transportation of patient from one hospital to another, the state government repairs and upgrade six ambulances and three utility vehicles for logistic purposes and make provision of fire fighting equipments in Yobe state Specialist Hospital, Damaturu.
