Yobe: WHO donates Laptops, Android phones to DSNOs

The World Health Organisation (WHO) has donated 17 number of laptops and Android phones each to Disease Surveillance and Notification Officers
(DSNOs) across the 17 local government councils of Yobe state.

Making the presentation on Monday, Health Information Management and
Risk Assessment officer, Dr. Uzoma Ugochukwu, said the ICT materials
were acquired in collaboration with Canadian government in its effort
to ensure data management and surveillance activities were enhanced at
the local government levels.

He further said using laptops and android phones were very key for
effective and efficient reporting of any disease outbreak, which in the past was a very big challenge to the officers.

Receiving the ICT materials on behalf of the Permanent Secretary, Ministry of Health, Dr. Umar Chiroma, thanked WHO for the donations and assured that they would put the materials to use for it to enhance their activities.

Chiroma charged the DSNOs not to personalise the materials but rather use them in reporting disease outbreaks.

The representative of the Permanent Secretary, also informed the beneficiaries that, training had been organised for them on the operation, maintenance among others which all of them must attend.

He also promised government would provide internet accessories that would allow them send in their reports at all times.

One of the beneficiaries, Mallam Adamu, while thanking WHO for the
donations, said their reporting level would now be higher, promising they would put in their best.
