Youth participation in politics can best be described as one of the ways to recreate value, empower the country with creative ideas, leading to the provision of essential projects to the citizens.
Youths can do better in politics when their voices are heard in decision-making. The power of the youth to support this drive must not to be underrated and they should be given the chance to get involved.
In Yobe state, some politicians are mischievously employing idle youths to achieve their latent and impotent goals; an idle hand, it is said, is the devil’s workshop. This is unfortunate.
I’m not encouraging the youths to castigate the older politicians. But, we need to let them know our worth by meticulously tabling our grievances before them, trash out boiling issues.
If we remain mute, nothing will change in our state. We should stand up and be involved in the day-to-day governance for the betterment of our society. It is time we the youths understood what politics entails, and do it actively.
