Yobe’s Mai Maichina bags Int’l award in Niger

President Elhadj Issoufou Mahamadou of Niger Republic has conferred an international merit award on Mai Machina of Yobe state, HRH Bashir Albishir Bukar (OON).

The award is known as L’ Ordre National du Niger (L’ONN).

The presentation which took place at the Niger capital’s city, Niamey on Tuesday was in recognition of the long peaceful co-existence between the former Kaneem Borno and people of Niger which was maintained by Mai Machina.

Issoufou, said the award was also to appreciate the royal father and his durbar contingents in attending almost all Niger Republican day, being celebrated annually on December 18.

The President further, said Mai Machina has become part and parcel of Niger, having been handling border issues with all maturity.

Machina Emirate which is known of its white horse durbar display, visits Niger Republic with 40 horses annually to promote the cultural
festivals, apart from personal visits to traditional leaders.
