Yoruba group backs Nasarawa PDP candidate

No fewer than 170, 000 members of the Afenifere Forum  of Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Nasarawa state chapter, at the weekend declared support for Alhaji Yusuf Agabi as the PDP candidate for 2015 general elections.

The group, led by its chairman, Mr. Majeed Alakija, stated its position in Lafia, the state capital.
They explained that the group had assessed all the aspirants in the state and found Agabi to be the most suitable for the state number one seat.
Alakija said the decision was based on the tremendous achievements recorded so far by the aspirant in the area of education and sport development.

He said the governorship aspirant had already groomed himself properly and was, therefore, ready to become the next governor of the state.
He said: “We want to tell the whole world that Afenifere group in Nasarawa state are in support of the governorship ambition of Dr Agabi and we will use our over 170, 000 population in the state to help in putting PDP back to power in the state as long as the Yoruba in Nasarawa are all in the PDP.

“This is evident in the refusal of the Nasarawa Yoruba to pay a solidarity visit to the five APC governors from the South-west when they visited their Nasarawa state counterpart, Umaru Tanko Al-Makura, sometime last year.

“This singular courage by the Nasarawa Afenifere has proven the dexterity in which the group has in PDP.”
The PDP governorship aspirant, Dr. Agabi, who was represented by his political aide, Alhaji Wakil Hudu Mukaila, commended the Afenifere’s efforts at ensuring that PDP reclaimed Nasarawa state in 2015 and called on them to be steady fast and be committed to the project.
