YOSAMM, MNCH2 seek funding for child health programmes

Yobe State Maternal and New Born Child Health, in collaboration with Yobe State Accountability Mechanism, yesterday, organised a two day sensitisation workshop on independent resource mobilisation for sustainability. MNCH2 Consultant and Vice President, International Association for Community Development, Glasgow, United Kingdom, Prof Muhammad Bello Shitu, who is the resource person said YOSAMM was working towards sustaining itself.
“The activities of YOSAMM rest with MNCH2, and are winding down in 2019. Because of the good work YOSAMM is doing, there is thinking that we sustain the momentum to continue providing accountability support. “This is an opportunity to look inward and outward and to come up with an opportunity.
The workshop is aimed at supporting YOSAMM to carry forward with its work,” he said. Blueprint also gathered the workshop was aimed at reflecting on the efforts put in place by the state government and the gap identified to further make consultations as well as bringing stakeholders together to brainstorm on burning issues regarding to maternal and new born child health with a view to address them.
Speaking earlier, the representative of the Ministry of Health, Hajiya Hauwa Sani, thanked the efforts of the mechanism for its struggles and advocacy visits, saying, the state had increased up to 15 per cent budgetary allocation to health sector in compliance to the Abuja declaration. About 25 participants from different fields of profession participated in the workshop.
