The All Progressives Congress (APC) Sunday berated the opposition Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) for alleged irrational political gimmicks on COVID-19.
The Plateau state APC in a statement signed by its state secretary, Malam Bashir Musa Sati, in responds to PDPs statement accusing Governor Simon Lalong of negligence.
Malam Sati said the PDP acted ignorantly by failing to separate facts from irrational postulation.
The party said the APC administration led by Governor Simon Lalong, all in effort to protect the lives of Plateau citizens had made every effort to safeguard the citizens by applying both proactive and stringent measures at one time or another.
It said the PDP should understand that it was not the right time to resort to political gimmicks, saying security remains sacrosanct, and must not be dragged into political game.
According to the party a resort to political gimmicks in this grim time would be detrimental to security of the citizens, which the PDP claims loved and insisted that the former ruling party had failed to protect when it held swell.
“On the issue of Corronavirus pandemic, the APC-led administration has put in place several measures that are aiding in preventing the occurrence of the disease in our state.
“Recall that we swiftly put the Chinese citizens that came into our state and our citizens working with them on quarantine, whose end results was negative,” it said.
The APC said several isolation centers within the three geo-political zones of the state, were put in place by the state government, even without a single confirmed case in the state.
“Coronavirus is a world pandemic, which has both health and economic implications on countries, states and individual person’s endeavours, which Plateau state is not exceptional and therefore, the PDP should be wisely enlightened.”
It said as part of measures to curb the occurrence of COVID-19, Governor Lalong, met with members of the state House of Assembly, with PDP members in attendance.
“What more could be mere postulation from the PDP than it discarding the presence of its members, and for the record notable among whom were, Hon Daniel Nonbol Listic, Hon Easter Simi Dusu, Hon Timothy Dantong and Hon Tyem Pirfa,” it said.
The APC enjoined all citizens to continue to adhere to health experts advises and all safety nets against the COVID-19.
