You are safe from bandits’ attacks, Army assures Benue, Nasarawa, neighbouring states

The Nigerian Army has assured the people of Benue, Nasawara and neighbouring states of adequate security against bandits, cattle rustlers and other criminal elements.

The Chief of Army Staff, Lt. Gen. Tukur Buratai gave the assurance during inspection of projects at the new barracks of the Special Forces Battalion in Doma, Nasarawa state.

He said the establishment of the special forces battalion in the area would check activities of bandits, kidnappers and other criminal elements in the area ad neighbouring states.

Nasarawa, Benue, Kogi, Taraba and parts of Niger states were in recent times bedeviled by activities of bandits, kidnappers and cattle rustlers.

This necessitated the launch of a military exercise code-named Ayam Akpatuma (Cat Race) by the Nigerian Army to curtail their activities.

The Nigerian Army has now went further to establish a special forces battalion barracks in the area to further degrade the activities of these criminal elements.

Earlier, during a courtesy visit to his office by the army chief, the Deputy Governor of Nasarawa state, Mr. Silas Agara, said the Nigerian Army had stabilised the country in terms of security.

He said the presence of the troops of the Nigerian Army in every part of the state had checked activities of criminal elements in the state.

The army chief also paid a condolence visit on the Emir of Keffi, Dr. Shehu Yamusa on the death of the Emir of Lafia, Alhaji Isah Mustapha.
