A former Minister of Internal Affairs, Alhaji Abdulrahman Adamu, has faulted the reasons giving by Gen. Buba Marwa (rtd) and Engr. Markus Gundiri for defecting to the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), stressing that their defection was informed by selfish interests rather than the alleged injustice and impunity in the party.
Adamu, who is also a national ex-officio member of the APC, said this in an interview with Blueprint, while commenting on the ongoing congresses of the party as well as the recent political developments in the state.

He maintained that both of them were fairly treated and given their fair share in the affairs of the party in the state.
He said: “We have sat with them and held several meetings and we have agreed on issues; you must have seen it in papers and you have also reported it.
So, their moving out of APC is purely for selfish interest and personal reasons because there was no disagreement before they left. They have been given fair share in the interim management committee of the party in the state. So, if they decided to move out of the APC, that is their own headache, but they should not attribute it to not being fairly treated or impunity in the APC as they claimed.”

He denied that there was factionalisation in the party, saying:  “We don’t have any camps in Adamawa APC as is being insinuated. It is you press men that want to create camps. Both Nyako and Atiku are members of the APC and they are working tirelessly to deliver the party in the state and in the country. Even in your family sometimes disagreement happens between you and your children; so, if there is a little bit of misunderstanding between one man and the other, it does mean that the party is divided.”
