One of the financiers of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Kano State, Alhaji Gambo Muhammadu Danpass, has called on President Muhammadu Buhari not to contest the 2019 presidential elections in 2019 because he is old and sick.
Alhaji Gambo Danpass, who is also the Dan saran Kano, said President Buhari has done his best so far for Nigeria, but because of his failing health should consider quitting for a younger and vibrant man to take up the mantle of leadership of the nation.
He said the President should in conjunction with APC leaders and other eminent Nigerians choose a capable younger person that would continue to steer the ship of the nation from where Muhammadu Buhari will stop in 2019.
The APC Chieftain, who had in collaboration with former governor of Kano State, Dr. Rabiu Musa Kwankwaso, mobilized resources and almost 2 million voters in Kano state in 2015 to ensure that governor Abdullahi Umar Ganduje won as Governor and Buhari as president, said because of his failing health, old age and declining productivity, the president decline to contest again in 2019.
Speaking at a press briefing in Kano Tuesday, the Dansaran Kano said it was clear that going by the performance of President Buhari age and failing health have had adverse effect his performance.
According to him, the President, who is noted for his anti-corruption posture and no-nonsense approach to governance has allowed so many things to go wrong since he became President in 2015, adding that “Nigerians would thank him for what he has done to the country so far but the truth is he needs to rest”.
Alhaji Gambo Danpass said he would campaign for the senator representing Kano central, Dr. Rabiu Musa Kwankwaso, to contest the 2019 presidential ticket because the Senator who came second in APC Presidential primaries in 2015, has all necessary qualities to be president of Nigeria.
“Kwankwaso’s performances as governor of Kano state and now as senator have clearly given him an edge over other contestants for the presidency from the North”, he said.
