Youth coalition carpets APC, Sanusi on national interest

A coalition of youth groups, Niger Delta/ Middle Belt Council, has warned the All Nigeria Peoples Congress (APC) to henceforth desist from heating up the polity by instigating Nigerians against well-thought out policies of the federal government.

It also called on President Goodluck Jonathan’s administration to investigate the ownership of one Islamic bank called Jaize Bank, urging the government not to relent in finding out the beneficiaries of the bank in order to determine whether its activities had conformed to national interest.

President of the council, Comrade Newgent Ekamon, at a press briefing yesterday in Abuja, accused APC of fanning the embers of disunity through sponsorship of faceless publications and encouraging hooliganism amongst youths.

Ekamon, along with other chieftains of the coalition, said the group hailed the investigation and subsequent suspension of the former Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN) governor, Sanusi Lamido Sanusi, “for his mismanagement of funds under his custody.”
The coalition berated Sanusi for not throwing in the towel when he got dissatisfied with government’s monetary policies if he was as honourable as he claimed.

The group also warned the APC to desist from its campaign of calumny against the Minister of Petroleum, Diezani Alison-Madueke, and the Group Managing Director of NNPC, Engr. Andrew Yakubu, adding that further calls to remove the duo would be decisively resisted.

Other members of the coalition included  South-South Youth Movement (SSYM) led by Alhaji Isah Mohammed, Amalgamation of Nigeria Youth Associations, Igbo Youth Associations, (IYA) led by Levi Anyanwu, South East Professionals led by Ikechukwu Ogbonna.
